A Consonant for Life

According to Croatian law, all citizens are potential organ donors. However, the common medical practice is that doctors always ASK for family permission, since they have the right to stop the process. We wanted to encourage people to express their opinion on organ donation and publicly show their CONSENT (consonant and consent are homonyms in Croatian).

Firstly, on European Day for Organ Donation and Transplantation 2014, we engaged the Croatian Minister of Health Siniša Varga to make a press conference on organ donation and remove a consonant from his name in order to show his personal consent to organ donation. After that, we’ve arranged that all relevant Croatian media (TV, print, web and radio) remove one consonant from their logos on that day. At the same time, we launched a Facebook application with which people could remove one consonant from their names in their Facebook profiles.

With this campaign we’ve reached more than 70% of the Croatian population and gave them the opportunity to show their opinion and eventually save somebody’s life.
